Dastan, the protagonist, is a streetwise orphan who was adopted seemingly at random by the King of the Persian Empire. The plot of “Prince of Persia: Sands of Time” is lifted fairly faithfully from the video game. It’s certainly one of the best of a criminally bad subgenre of movies, one that may have gamers cheering, but everyone else will be left with a standard popcorn blockbuster experience.
